Vernon "Mick" L. Vanasdall

Vernon “Mick” L. Vanasdall, 89, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Knox, he was the son of the late Worthy and Ada (Utterback) Vanasdall. He served his country in the US army and was a member of American Legion Post 19, Muncie and VFW Post 748, Knox. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railway where he was a project engineer. The avid sport enthusiast loved bowling, fishing, and golf. Throughout his years he hit three holes in one, the last one being just two years ago. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores; siblings, Kenneth Vanasdall and Evelyn Skorup both of Knox, and Shirley (Lonnie) Boyle of Hamlet; brothers-in-law, Tonn Salyer of Fort Wayne and Larry Salyer of Auburndale, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by five sisters; three brothers; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law. Funeral service is 2 p.m., Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling from 11 a.m. until service time. Pastor David Trimble officiating. Preferred memorials are to HOPE for Animals, Fort Wayne.
