Ruth L. Trzynka, 67, of New Haven, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Ruth was born to Oscar and Helen (Groth) Larson on August 7, 1951, in Wausau, Wisconsin. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. Ruth graduated from Wausau East High School in 1969 and attended Concordia College, St. Paul, where she received her Master’s in Education with a concentration in church music in 1973. She taught at Our Savior Lutheran School for two years in Aiea, Hawaii. Ruth then moved to New Haven, Indiana, where she taught at Central Lutheran School. Her educational career continued as she taught study skills at IPFW. Ruth then began working at A Party Apart until her retirement in late 2016. Ruth was married to Dennis L. Trzynka on June 12, 1983. They honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico, where they enjoyed the beach, tennis and Mayan ruins. The couple had two sons, Andrew of Fort Wayne and Christopher of New Haven. Ruth delighted in spending time with her family, including her three grandchildren: Gabriella, Cohen, and Hudson. Some of her favorite things to do with family included celebrating birthdays (she was always the first to sing), cooking for the family for holidays, and weekly visits where she played with her grandkids. Ruth was a very talented musician and delighted in serving God through her musical talents and cultivating friendships. She played organ and directed the adult choir at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven. In addition, she played organ and accompanied the choir at Concordia Lutheran Church. After her retirement, Ruth enjoyed traveling around to different churches as a substitute organist. She arranged and wrote numerous musical pieces, especially for church and even wrote the processional music at her son’s wedding. Ruth also used her musical talents by singing in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic chorus for several years. She also served God in many other ways including: mission trips to Kenya and teaching women’s bible class for over 15 years. Ruth was truly blessed with a wealth of wonderful friends who enjoyed many good memories and also stood by her side during tough times, supporting her during two battles with cancer. Ruth loved to travel. Some of her favorite memories included a trip to Europe during college, Cancun, Hawaii, mission trips to Kenya, and a recent family vacation to Florida as well as numerous family vacations through the years. She is survived by her sons, Andrew (Tabitha) and Christopher; mother, Helen; grandchildren, Gabriella, Cohen, and Hudson; brothers, Bill (Mary Kay) and Chuck; nieces, Lorrelle and Courtney (Pete); nephews, Lief (Ann) and Anders; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
