FAREWELL - Ronald Richard Walter, age 76, of Fort Wayne, took the hand of his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 12, 2021. A private, invitation only, memorial celebration honoring Ron was held at Harper's Community Funeral Home, New Haven, Indiana by family. Pastor David Stecker officiated. Inurnment: Old Concordia Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ron was born June 21, 1945, to Henry F. and Dorothy Mae (Parks) Walter, an only child. Ron received the Holy Sacrament of Baptism and member of Concordia Lutheran Church. The Fort Wayne native worked for International Harvester; achieving position of foreman, with offers of advancement. Ron served his country in the United States Armed Forces. Ron was known for his passion restoring classic automobiles, motorcycles, bikes and children's tricycles. He was sought by customers around the world. R&S Classic Auto Restorations & Sales. He was a master restorer/mechanic. He loved travel with his wife, Shirley, cruises. They also enjoyed participating in the Auburn Dusenberg Auctions, and Disney "Behind the Scenes Tours". Ron and Shirley were great fans of and enjoyed attending Indianapolis Colts Football Games. He was known to family and friends as a collector of quality, a true antiquarian connoisseur. A talented great chef to his family and friends. A humorist, he took great joy teasing family and friends and we loved him for it! A humorist extra-ordinaire, lover of animals. Ron has a great smile. He was our beloved son, husband, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Ron loved his God, family, and true friends. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pastor Patricia Droege (Jerry) Drall of Shaftsburg, Michigan; cherished niece, Tiffanie Drall (Eric) Hewett, who adored her uncle Ron, of Commerce Township, Michigan and their daughters, Arianna Elise and Amanda Hollidae. Eight Walter cousins: Susan Walter, Sharon Walter, Marilyn Donat, Connie Jaques, Lynn Probst, Elaine Rose, William Walter and Carolyn Whetzel. He was preceded in death by "the love of his life" wife, Shirley Diane Droege Walter, beloved parents, Henry F. and Dorothy Mae Parks Walter, and cherished niece, Hollidae Drall, who adorded her uncle Ron. Although his death leaves the family heartbroken, they graciously praise God for Ron's salvation and the atonement of his Lord Jesus Christ.
