Jack Howard Meyers

Jack Howard Meyers, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at IU Medical Center, Bloomington. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Howard and Eva (Forsythe) Meyers. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne. Jack was with Central Soya Co., Inc. for 40 years. During his career, he served as President of the National Truck Council, an award of which he was very proud. He graduated from Huntertown High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He then attended Indiana University where he was a pitcher for the IU varsity baseball team. He loved IU and was a season ticket holder for both basketball and football for over 45 years, missing only a handful of games, he also attended many "away" football and basketball games, IU soccer games…if there was an IU sporting event that he could attend, he did! He also attended many of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a Chicago White Sox and Colts fan, avid golfer, tennis player, he loved musical theatre and loved to walk. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Duplicate Bridge Organization achieving the status of Bronze Life Master. Jack loved to travel with his whole family including a Caribbean cruise, a trip to Maui to watch the Hoosiers, his favorite vacation spot, Hilton Head Island, and major league baseball games, Colts and Bears football games, and, of course, IU games. He is survived by children, Kathy (Rudy) Koch and Susan (Bob) Love both of New Haven, Ronald (Mary) Meyers of Kenosha, WI, Linda (Terry) Screeton of Rochester, Karen (Brent) Knuckles of Pierceton, and David (Lori Renner) Meyers of Navarre, FL; grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Rupp, Jennifer (Jesse) Wells, Greg (Susan Niemeier) Koch, Adam Love, Matthew (Katherine) Love, Jack G. Meyers, Cassie (Luke) Smith, Cameron (Rylee) Screeton, Carter (Maggy) Screeton, Rodney Knuckles, Wesley (Kayla) Knuckles, Josh (Elisabeth Runser) Meyers, Alexis Meyers, Caitlyn Meyers; 14 great grandchildren; and special friends, Elizabeth Jane Shultz and Martha Street. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; infant son, James Meyers; and brother Terry Meyers. Private family service. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
