Francis Anthony Gentile, devoted husband and father, 92, Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, December, 22, 2020 in Hospice at Parkview Hospital with family members at his bedside. Born May 10, 1928, Frank was the son of Italian immigrants, Antonio and Victoria Gentile. Frank graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from International Business College. While serving in the Army during the Korean War, Frank met and married Genevieve Dolores Roberts on August 9, 1952, who survives. For the next 68 years, he always claimed he hit the “jackpot”. Frank retired as the Controller of Navistar’s Materials Management Center in 1984. Frank also volunteered at Parkview Hospital for a number of years. He served 11 years as a Past President and Board Member of the New Haven, Adams Township Park Department. Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven, IN for over 63 years. He served as a Past Treasurer of their athletic department for 15 years and is the Past President of their parish council. Faith and family were the most important things in Frank’s life. Recreationally, he bowled, was an avid golfer and Notre Dame fan. He liked to grow tomatoes and peppers in his vegetable garden. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Pamela (Wayne) Paschal; sons, David (Penny) Gentile, James (Susan) Gentile, Donald Gentile and Michael (Jamie) Gentile. Frank’s loving influence will be missed by his grandchildren, Heather and Rachel Paschal, Emily Rennecker, Jon Gentile, Nicole Lamma, Kelsey Neff, Kyle and Travis Gentile and Camille Stuckey, along with nine and a half great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and best friend and brother, Donald. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St. with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E. New Haven with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. It is open to family and friends. COVID safety precautions (masks and social distancing) must be followed. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
