F. James "Jim" Cordes, 80, died June 7, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. The Napoleon, Ohio native was the son of the late Fred and Rosa Cordes. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, IN. He loved his family, church and enjoyed many sports. He is survived by his wife, Janice; children: Joie (Ron) Meikle of Leo, Jon Cordes and Julie (Aaron) Haschel both of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Rachel, Casey, Robert, Courtney, Erik, Logan, Emma, Hayden and Jana; great grandchildren: Ella and Jolene; sisters-in-law: Helen Cordes and Thurley Cordes. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Chuck, Bill, Kenny and Fred. Funeral service is 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven, Indiana with calling one hour prior. Rev. David Stecker officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, Indiana. Burial is in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Worship for Shut-Ins or Concordia Lutheran High School Scholarship Fund.
