Eugene Forrest Claypool

Eugene Forrest Claypool, 84, passed away October 1, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Greenfield. Born in Delphos, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Minnie (Nagel) Claypool. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 330, and also a member of Howard Bandelier Jr. VFW Post 2457. He retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, Louisville, Kentucky after 20 years and went on to work at McConnell’s Grocery Distribution, New Haven for over ten years. He is survived by his children, Rickie (Laura) Claypool of New Haven, Richard (Diane) Claypool of Churubusco, and Sue (Jerome) Kauth of Greenfield; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Loretta Claypool in 1992; two brothers, two sisters, and grandson Joshua David Kauth. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Nick Robinson officiating. Calling is also 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight or Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne.
