    Duaine "Dean" Vondran

    April 26, 1938 - October 17, 2021

    Duaine Eugene “Dean” Vondran, 83, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at White Oak Health Campus, Monticello, IN. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Louis and Marjorie (Camp) Vondran. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church and Wolcottville United Methodist Church. He served his country in the US Army during Korea. He retired in 1990 from Dana Corp after 30 years. After his retirement he worked for the YMCA Camp Potawotami in Wolcottville. He also bought and sold antiques on consignment in Wolcottville. Dean was an avid coin collector and loved to “Dink” around his garage admiring his antiques and going through his favorite coins. He also enjoyed fishing at the lake. The family will especially miss his wonderful stories that he would share about his interesting past. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet of Fort Wayne; daughters, Kimberly (David) Cole of Hoagland, Alicia (Dennis Clarke) Berning of Rennselaer, and Rebecca (Keith) Perry of LaGrange; siblings, William (Sherry) Vondran, Michael (Wanda) Vondran, and Jane (Ron) Hockemeyer all of New Haven; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Fredrick Vondran; nephew, Gary Vondran; and son-in-law, David Hughes. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation three hours prior. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association.
