David Cookie Cook

David M. “Cookie” Cook, 77, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Montpelier, OH, he was the son of the late Harold and Greta (Griffith) Cook. He served his country in the Army and was a member of V.F.W. Post #2547, The Navy Club Ship #245, and Loyal Order of Moose #1480, all in New Haven. He retired in 2001 after 43 years of service with the Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a yard master. He enjoyed the Colts, NASCAR, fishing, collecting model trains, and his recent purchase of a Model A. David Especially loved his trips to Florida with his wife Rose. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rose (McMaster) Cook; children, David (Elizabeth) Cook, II of Newnan, GA, and Tina (Chris) Link of Montpelier; step-daughters, Trina Steadman of Hilliard, OH, Kim Snyder of New Haven, and Marty (Steve) McAlkich of Huntertown; Siblings, Harold (Evelyn) Cook, and David’s twin, Dan (Merleen) Cook both of Defiance, and Susie Kohl of Bryan, OH; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters. Funeral Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Dan Cook officiating. Calling is also 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and American Stroke Association.
