    Catherine "Katie" E. Chilcote

    June 11, 1924 - February 1, 2017

    Catherine “Katie” E. Chilcote, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Covington Manor, Fort Wayne. Born in Tipton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Selma (Bohn) Stemmler. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital for 20 years and General Electric for ten years, retiring in 1989. She was also a member of America Legion Post 330 Auxiliary. Katie fostered 23 children through Lutheran Social Services, a passion she held dear to her heart. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Watson of Savannah, GA, Julie (John) Hecke and Lisa Thomas both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Robert Watson, Kimberly Stokes, Nicole Frank, Angela Thomas, and Katelyn Hecke; and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Russell W. Chilcote in 1974; sisters, Martha Wombolt and Marilyn Headford. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Scott Zeckzer officiating. Calling is also 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New. Haven. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to the church.
